Resolutions

th

Yes, it’s now February… and it seems like a great time to solidify my resolutions for 2015. I’m sure that other people have long abandoned theirs already. 🙂

This year has started out with a bang! No major worries or life hassles other than trying to save my liver from the many food and cocktail events that I attend weekly. This year I vow to just focus on my own happiness. I am in control of that one thing for a fact.

Here are some of my resolutions for 2015

1. Cook at home more (2x a week)- home cooked meals are my favorite!

2. Become more social- spending time with friends weekly makes the year fly by.

3. Attend more Food & Wine Festivals- I attended the Austin Food & Wine Festival, Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, and the Music City Food & Wine Festival in 2014. The experience was life changing and a great reward for working hard throughout the year. I have my eye on attending the Charleston Wine & Food Festival in March. I also have my fingers crossed to attend the South Beach Food & Wine Festival in the upcoming weeks.

4. Plan ahead- this is in general and for all things. Sometimes I am a last minute person and I want to strive to do better.

How’s you yearly planning going??

Generous Helpings & Beer Fests

Are you enjoying the amazing Nashville weather this month? I sure am!!! This past weekend, I had the chance to road trip to Chattanooga to attend the Chattanooga Craft Beer Festival. I normally don’t get the chance to venture around our neighboring city much, but I am that I did. This beer fest was organized by the fine fellas from Rhizome Productions that produce many of the popular beer festivals in Nashville (East Nashville Beer Festival & Brew at the Zoo).

After returning from Austin Food & Wine Festival this past weekend, I am on a foodie high!! I will post my recap for the festival this weekend. I have always wanted to attend the “Taste of Cocktails” event in New Orleans, so I am glad that my city is getting a taste of what it will be like next week.

Austin Food and Wine Festival Recap Day 1

This has currently been the summer of the foodie and I am totally NOT complaining. A few weeks ago, I made the trek to Austin, Texas to partake in the Austin Food & Wine Festival.

During the Houston layover, I got to have my favorite beer.

One bonus about traveling on this trip is that I had a layover in my second city of Houston. I got to go back to Pappadaeux for some gumbo and oysters. Amazing!!

This is a new festival, only on it’s second year. I was excited to try it out, but also kinda wary due to the not-so-nice reviews I read about the first year mishaps. I applied for a media pass but was denied :(. Even this that… I still attended the festival on my own dime and enjoyed myself.

The first day of the conference began on a Saturday.

CMA Festival Week

20130605-124344.jpg

It’s that time of year again. I love the CMA Fest week. I am a huge country music fan and a proud native of Nashville. I love it when country stars come back to the city. This week is always a busy week for me. I try to attend as many shows as possible.

Need some fun games to get you through the week? Or during the rainy moments that are predicted? Play one or both of these bingo games.

This one is brought to you by the guys at Nashvillist and works for both locals and tourist.

I’ve already had the pleasure of hearing country singer, Randy Houser perform at the SiriusXM Highway Studio. I loved every moment of it. He is an amazing singer. I was even able to ask him a foodie question.

Country Chic Chronicles: As a food blogger, I am dying to know your favorite food restaurant in Nashville.
Randy Houser: I love The Southern Steak & Oyster, Arnold’s Meat and Three, and Loveless.
CCC: You’ve mentioned before that you could’ve been a chicken farmer if not a singer, are you a fan of Nashville’s hot chicken?
RH: Oh yes, I love Prince’s Hot Chicken. Afterwards, I need to sit in a vat of ice cream.

Laughter ensues….

I was very pleased to have met him and I look forward to supporting him more in the future.

Music City Happenings: Whiskey Sipping Ladies

I am truly excited about this upcoming event in Nashville. I am a lover of whiskey. I crave Jack Daniels and love Corsair. I can’t wait to gather with my girlfriends at this upcoming event. Women Like Whiskey Too is an awesome concept! Men are in awe when I order a Jack at the bar.

Interested in attending? Here are more details.

On Thursday, June 13, Collier and McKeel Handcrafted Tennessee Whiskey will sponsor the first-ever “Women Like Whiskey Too” event, one that will celebrate the industry’s new tastemakers through a spirit tasting and a cocktail demonstration at Cabana, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This will be a casual sip-and-learn event that encourages both the social and the sophisticated aspects of whiskey drinking. ‘Women Like Whiskey Too’ is about promoting a community that understands men aren’t the only ones who enjoy a little slow sipping.
